Accordingly, the province makes efforts to develop the value of the folk festivals in connection with shaping the locality’s cultural tourism products so as to create the unique features of Phu Yen in the chain of linking and developing tourism with the central south and highlands provinces.
Currently, in the locality, there are many folk festivals held on an annual basis, namely: festival of fishermen praying for favorable weather conditions and lots of seafood, Go Thi Thung traditional horse race festival, “bo ma” festival by E De ethnic compatriots, bai choi festival…All of these festivals are becoming popular and bearing great meaning to Phu Yen people’s material and spiritual life.
In Phu Yen, folk festivals are considered one form of cultural life of the local inhabitants, hiding among the folk festivals is the image of Phu Yen people, who are hard-working and enduring with the great hope that nature will favor them in producing, or the images of the great joy after the harvest time….Folk festivals bring about lots of material and spiritual values, bearing close connections with the current human’s daily life and development. This is shown in concrete details via three fundamental values. Folk festivals originated from the demands of residential community’s life, reflecting the thoughts, aspirations of the people, in close connection with the essence of one country with water rice agriculture. Originating from this root, folk festivals are the occasion to commend the strength of the community, creating the link of one human community during the process of producing and combating with nature and against the invaders. This value is constantly preserved in the current folk festivals, the value is being enhanced in the modern society while human beings are in greater need of asserting themselves.
On an annual basis, folk festivals in the country in general and in Phu Yen province in particular are held at the concrete and precise venues and time. This is the occasion for the people to entertain themselves with the cultural and recreational values after hardship; simultaneously adding further strength to make further preparations for one joyful working year with the simple aspirations towards happiness and prosperity.
Folk festivals are normally held in coordination with purchasing operation, trade fair… to display products in connection with the features of the festivals as well as the localities, residents. All of these activities emerge from the human’s demands, not only receiving the involvement of the local inhabitants but also attract the inhabitants from every corner of the country and the world. With this feature, the task of organizing and operating these folk traditional is in close connection with developing tourism, hence, it requires decent implementation.
With the strategy of sustainable development, folk festivals develop in parallel with tourism development, it does need the strict management to ensure the festivals’ traditional values; within the festive content of the festivals, it does require the combination of organizing games with lots of concrete demands to attract tourists

Besides, organizing folk festivals must be implemented in combination of the traditional cultural, sport activities and advertising tourism, introducing about the land, people of Phu Yen. However, the noteworthy point is how to ensure the cultural values, civilized lifestyle in combination with the tradition of each locality where the festival is held.
Folk festivals are humane tourism resources. Organizing folk festivals in combination with tourism development is the model currently held in an efficient manner not only for Phu Yen but also the entire nation. Therefore, constructing, managing and organizing folk festivals have to be carried out efficiently to. It is necessary to create the stimulating factor for tourism in the province. In the coming time, this activity will be more drastic, bringing about the efficiency in material and spirit to Phu Yen people.
