Da Dia Reef has the approximate area of 2km2, and this is one rare natural scenic spot. The stones here are arranged into piles, closely adjacent to each other with the shapes of a hexagon, similar to the plates piling over each other, hence, the name of Dia Reef is created.
As to the result of geological research, the stones at Dia Reef are of basal type, formed from the volcanic eruption millions of years ago. The lava from the volcano crates overflew into the ocean before entangling the cold sea water, suddenly became frozen, simultaneously occurring the incident of force reaction, which created the entire breakages of the lave along the vertical and horizontal lines, forming the closely-arranged stone column, half emerging and half submerging along the shore, where Dia reef is unique in Vietnam and also one of the few cliffs possessing such shapes and structures in the world.
The Prime minister has requested the Minister of culture-sports-tourism, PPC chairman, within their rights and responsibilities, implement the state management towards the heritage pursuant to the law stipulations on cultural heritage.
Da Dia reef is one of the most attractive landscapes in our country, ranked as the national scenic spot by the Ministry of culture-sports-tourism in 2005. On an annual basis, thousands of tourists visit and admire this scenic spot.
As let known by Mr Nguyen Danh Hanh, deputy head of the provincial board of heritage management, the event of Da Dia Reef being ranked as the special national scenic spot one more time asserts the particular value of this nature’s masterpiece. Simultaneously, this is the favorable condition for the province to continue enhancing the tasks of protecting, preserving and developing the value of this scenic spot within the conditions of the locality’s socio-eco development.
