Horse-race festival is held every year on the 9th of Lunar January in Xuan Thanh hamlet, An Xuan commune, Tuy An district. The yard for horse-race is a large and even land in Go Thi Thung. The race-track is a circle with the radius of more than 500 m which is protected by safe fences. Opening the race, there is a parade of “horsemen”. Then the race is divided into many different groups. Under the direction of the “horsemen”, strong horses run al full gallop in the shouts for joy of thousands of people which make the atmosphere really noisy. After horse-race, traditional games are organized such as: Bai Choi game, Tug of war, Stick Pushing…
Horse-race festival is present for a long time and is a typical cultural feature to present for sporting spirit of Phu Yen people.
