The Fishing festival is annually held by the coastal and lagoon villages in Phu Yen from the first lunar month to the 6th month, every year.
The festival venue is Tomb оf the Marshal where Whale is worshipped. The Festival is divided into two parts namely the procedures and festival. The procedures are organized in solemn manner with rites such as: Greeting God, welcoming royal honor, reading funeral oration… The festival is embodied with Vietnamese folk game shows such as: Vietnamese Coastal Folk Boat-rowing Singing (Ba Trao), Boat Racing, Swinging Coracles… Especially, in the Fishing Festival, the bộ singing which is the traditional art performance type is indispensable.
The Fishing festival is the need in the spiritual and soul life of fishermen to wish a favorable weather, productive output of fish in the net, well-being and happiness. This traditional folk festival is preserved and developed in the South Central Coast in general and Phu Yen in particular. Phu Yen Province Fish Wishing Festival was recognized by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage.
