O Loan Lagoon is characterized by many specialties, especially blood cockle. This blood cockle has pink meat interwoven with brick yellow roe which is very delicious. This is a famous dish in O Loan Lagoon.
Blood cockle’s shell is cleaned and submerged to remove mud and gilled in stove till water in the cockle is flown. Eaters use hands to slightly open the shells and put some salt, pepper and lemon into it and serve it in the spoon when it is hot.
Many restaurants and canteens in Phu Yen serve visitors with O Loan blood cockles. However, if it has a chance to seat in the floating boat in the center of O Loan Lagoon in clear moon night with cool wind, serving such gilled blood cockle is very wonderful. O Loan Blood Cockle was ranked in Top 10 Vietnam’s Seafood by Vietnam Records.
