On the North-South road, when crossing Ca pass, the visitors shall feel surprised when seeing a land with green mountains and blue water mixing together to create a dreamlike and mighty landscape. That is Vung Ro, one of famous and beautiful bays of Central Coast.
Vung Ro bay has an area of 1,640 ha of water surface and the depth enough to receive the ships with capacity of more than 5,000 tons which is covered by mountain ranges of Ca Pass, Da Bia, Hon Ba in 3 directions of North, East, West. Inside the bay, there are many small islands including: Bai Lach, Bai Mu U, Bai Nga, Bai Chua, Bai Chan Trau, Bai Ho, Bai Hang, Bai Nho, Bai Chinh, Bai Bang, Bai Lau, Bai Nhan. Da Bia – Vung Ro – Ca Pass are typical historical, cultural and tourism areas in Phu Yen province.
Especially, Vung Ro was one of important ports of Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea where received hundreds of tons of weapons transported by Ships without ID No. from the North to support the Southern battlefield in the years of the war against America to save the country. In only a short time from 11/1964 to 2/1965, Vung Ro port received four Ships without ID No. The fourth trip arrived the port at night 15/02/1965 which was detected by the enemy in the next morning. To ensure the security and safety for Ho Chi Minh Trail at Sea, we that Trip without ID No. was destroyed and sank into the sea at Bai Chua. Weapon transportation and receiving at Vung Ro 1964 – 1965 was a historical event to present the ingenious and brave spirit of our soldiers and people.
Vung Ro was recognized as a National historical relic on 18/6/1997. In 2014, this place was ranked in Top 10 beautiful bays of Vietnam by Vietnam Records.
