Da Bia mountain (or called Thach Bi Son) has the height of 706 m which is imposing in the North of Ca Pass range. On the mountain top, there is a giant stone block with the height of 76 m with particularly-interesting shape which is covered with white cloud in the early morning or the late afternoon and now appear and now disappear. The ecology is diversified with many typical trees and animals of tropical forests. Standing on the top of Da Bia Mountain, the visitors can see famous beauty spots such as: Vung Ro, Ca Pass, Bang beach, Mon beach – Dien cape, Hai Dang, Hiem mountain, Bien Ho, Dap Han, Van Phong Bay (Khanh Hoa province)…
From long time ago, Da Bia is considered as a holy mountain with the name of Lingaparvata (it means Linga – the mountain god who was the embodiment of Siva God in the belief of Cham people), in the ancient book of China, it is transcribed as Lang-gia-bat-bat-da. Da Bia mountain is closely linked to many legends. Especially the event in 1471, King Le Thanh Ton on his way to reclaim the land to the South, the king carved letters in the big stone block at the top of the mountain. From that time, the mountain is called Da Bia (Stone Stele) mountain or Thach Bi Son.
In 1836, King Minh Mang permitted to express the symbol of Dai Lanh mountain range (including Da Bia mountain) into Tuyen Dinh, one of 9 copper bells placed in The Mieu in Dai Noi of the Imperial city of Hue. Around the middle of XIX century, mandarin of Nguyen Dynasty named Phan Thanh Gian composed a poem in Chinese characters when crossing Ca pass- Da Bia mountain which is translated as follows:
The rock placed on the mountain top
The highest in the area
Marking the border of the new stop
After defeating the foreign invaders
The seal covered by the clouds
The history looks at the mirror
The reflection of the predecessor
Affected the heart of the visitor
Da Bia mountain Peak Conquer Contest is held on the 26th and 27th of Lunar March every year. In this contest, the visitors can climb to Da Bia mountain peak through a section with the length of approximate 2,011 m and cross some road sections and 2,071 steps. There is a stop place every 300 m for the visitors to rest and enjoy the landscape and discover the coastal tropical forest ecology… At the present, Da Bia ecological tourism area is under construction which shall be a destination for the visitors on the way to discover and conquer Da Bia mountain peak. Da Bia mountain is recognized as a National relic on 22/8/2008.
