Bai Mon – Mui Dai Lanh landscape is located in Dong Be village, Hoa Tam commune, Dong Hoa district, about 25 km from Tuy Hoa city to the southeast. Bai Mon – Mui Dai Lanh is a complex of beautiful landscapes which is a valuable asset of Phu Yen.
Mui Dien is also known as Mui Dai Lanh, Mui Ke Ga, Cap Varella, with geographical coordinates of 12053’08’’ North latitude and 109027’02’’ East longitude. At the end of the nineteenth century, the French officer named Varella discovered and recognized the importance of this land on the world maritime map which was called Cap Varella by the French. In 1890, the French built a lighthouse for the purpose of navigating ships operating in the sea into Vung Ro Bay. Through the war, the lighthouse was ruined, in 1995, the lighthouse was re-built and operated again. This is one of eight lighthouses with the age of over 100 years among 79 active lighthouses in Vietnam and is the lighthouse which is closest to the international waters.
At the foot of Mui Dai Lanh is Bai Mon, this is a beach which is still quite pristine, with the shape of a crescent moon and a coastline of about 400 meters long, gentle slope, fine white sand, crystal-like pure water. Especially, in Bai Mon area, there is a freshwater stream, after running through many cliffs and Bac Deo Ca primeval forest, this stream flows through the beach and flows into the East Sea.
Coming here, visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse to see the vast ocean; set foot on the milestone which is recorded as the coordinate 0 by the General Department of Land Administration; visitors can also stay overnight, enjoy fresh and cool air; Enjoy fresh seafood, listen to the sound of
Bai Mon – Mui Dai Lanh was ranked as a National Landscape Relic on August 22, 2008. In 2014, it was recognized by Vietnam Record Organization as the Top 5 most famous lighthouses of over 100 years old. Beginning from 2017, Phu Yen province solemnly organizes the New Year Flag Ceremony and welcome the first tourists coming to welcome the first dawn on the mainland of Vietnam on the first day of the new year (January 1st ) here.
