Van Hoa plateau consists of 3 communes: Son Nguyen, Son Dinh and Son Longlocated in Son Hoa district, with the 19C national highway passing through. Ithas an average height of 445m above sea level with numerous high hills andmountains such as: Hon Dung with height of 456m, Hon Nup with height of 486m…The terrain gradually decreases from west, northwest to southeast. The climateis cool all year round with the average temperature of 240C. Theprevailing winds are southeast and southwest with few of strong winds. Theaverage rainfall is from 1.700-1.900mm and there is rain in all parts in thewinter.

Van Hoa has many wonderful streams and lakes such as Tia stream, Coi stream,Suoi Phen lake and Van Hoa lake… In the early morning, mist spreads lakesurface and over mountains, which is so fanciful and dreamy.

The plateau is a potential basalt region with extremely rich vegetation, low mountainous rainforest covering 28% of natural land. The forest hasnumerous valuable timber species, flowers and animals; soil and climate are adaptedto legume cultivation.

Specialties in Van Hoa are jackfruit and pineapple. Jackfruit here isyellow, crispy and  sweet with thickbulbs and small seeds; pineapple is also sweet with a few “eyes”. Van Hoatraditional sauce made from these fruits is very delicious and has brand namecalled “Van Hoa sauce” for a long time.

Van Hoa also has red fruit, a tree related to “bon bon” fruit in Quang landor “dau da xoan” fruit in North land. The tree has a fruit-bearing cycle, depending on the weather. In years of harvest, red fruit grows in clusters fromthe trunk, abundantly from the root to the top of tree. At the end of summerand  beginning of autumn, it is ripe, tasting sweet and sour, which is a favorite snack for women.

Van Hoa has high density of national historical monuments. It is a historiccomplex of Spring Hall, built in 1973 – the venue of the 5th Phu Yen provincialParty Congress, (September, 1973) and many other conferences during theresistance against the US. It is also the station to receive letters and foodsent from the rear.

Uncle Ho church is adjacent to Son Dinh commune, located on Highway 19C andbuilt in September 1969. It is the place to hold solemnly memorial ceremony fordeath of Uncle Ho and Phu Yen army and people. Now, the church is rebuilt to bea destination, for visiting and educating patriotism for young generation todayand tomorrow.

Another famous military construction located on the edge of Van Hoa plateauis Thi Thung hill tunnel in An Xuan Commune. It is built in April 1964 with anaverage depth of 4,5m in the ground, width of 0,8m, height of 1,8m, length ofnearly 2km, with many doors up and down, many extended part for warehouses andaccommodation …

In addition, this place also has traditional horse racing festival everyspring. Its space is eligible for constructing a regional-scale racetrack. Itis also the place for horse racing, motorbike racing, kite flying and othersports events.
